    Donna Maria Donna Maria is the founder and president of the Handmade Beauty Network, the leading trade organization representing the handmade beauty products industry, including soaps, cosmetics, fragrances, candles and aromatherapy products.

    Donna Maria is an author, speaker, aromatherapy expert and attorney, and the inspiration behind the return of thousands to the time-honored tradition of making fresh, natural beauty products at home. She is also the founder and editor of The Indie Experience Newsletter, the only publication of its kind devoted exclusively to showcasing the benefits of handmade beauty products.

    Donna Maria began creating her own beauty products in 1992. In 1995, she left her position as an attorney in a Fortune 500 company to study aromatherapy and devote herself full-time to own and manage Maria Grace Aromatherapy Shop in Takoma Park, Maryland. Maria Grace, officially opened in 1993, was the first retail shop in the US where clients learned to create handmade beauty products entirely “from scratch,” and where Donna Maria customized clients’ products using fresh ingredients such as bananas, apples, cucumbers, honey, lemons, essential oils and other natural ingredients.

    Donna Maria is the author of several books, including “Making Aromatherapy Creams & Lotions” (Storey Books, 2000). Her Aromatic Beauty Workshops have been held nationwide and in South Africa, and she regularly consults with cosmetics manufacturers, publishing houses and individuals. Her articles and features appear frequently in such magazines as The Aromatic Thymes, The Natural Health Magazine, The Natural Foods Merchandiser, The Saponifier and others.

    In addition to The Indie Beauty Network, Donna Maria is a member of other organizations including the Hancrafted Soap Makers Guild and the Cosmetic, Toiletries & Fragrances Association. She also serves on the "Ask The Experts" Technical Forum of the Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild.
